Insight 3
The Presence That Never Left Us
Teaching:
The path does not lead to God, it leads to remembrance. The Divine was never distant, only veiled by forgetfulness. When we turn inward, whispering the Name with love, we awaken to the truth that God has always been there, within us, as breath, as Light.
Practice:
Sit quietly. With every inhale, feel the presence of life within you. With every exhale, softly whisper the name - "Satnam." Notice that you are not moving toward God, you are uncovering the Presence that never left. Let remembrance dissolve the distant between seeker and sought.
Contemplation Question:
If God has always been present, what is it that separates us from that awareness?
Reminder of the Day:
Every whisper of the Name, every breath of awareness, carries us back to the Presence that never left.
Gurbani Reflection:
"Jal te upjal jal maahi samaae."
Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, Ang 202.
("From the water we arise, into the water we merge again.")
Comparative Reflection - Sufism:
When the tongue softens into dhikr, the remembrance of the Divine Name, a light stirs within. The lover realizes, "I was never apart. It was my gaze that turned away. The man who remembers God is in the company of God." - Hadith Qudsi.
Reflection by Writer:
"Remembrance is the homecoming of the soul."
